The City Manager's Office is responsible for the daily administration of the City's operations. The department includes the City Manager, a Deputy City Manager, an Assistant City Manager, the Public Information Office, and the Economic Development Office. The City Manager reports to the City Commission, and oversees the City's various departments and divisions, prepares the agenda for weekly Commission meetings, organizes the City's annual Operating Budget as well as the five-year Capital Budget, fosters intergovernmental partnerships, and develops operational guidelines to ensure proper service to the citizens and visitors of Kissimmee.

Mike Steigerwald

Mike Steigerwald has been City Manager of Kissimmee since August 2010. Prior to this role, he was promoted to Deputy City Manager in November of 2006. As City Manager, Steigerwald serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the City and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the City's business. Mike came to the City in January of 1994, serving first as a Planner and later as Current Planning Manager.

He was named Employee of the Year for the City in 1998 and served as Director of Development Services from 1999 to 2006.

Desiree MathewsDesiree Matthews has been with the City Manager’s Office since 2001—previously serving as the Assistant to the City Manager. She was promoted to Assistant City Manager in July of 2007. As an Assistant City Manager, Matthews will implement the coordination and administration of official City records and Commission action.  Among other duties, she oversees the City Manager’s Department and city-wide special projects. Desiree received her Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Atlantic University and her Masters in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida.
