The Economic Development Office was established in 2009 and is a division of the City Manager’s Department. This office is managed by a Director who is responsible for developing the marketing strategies and incentive packages designed to attract and retain corporate citizens to the City of Kissimmee.
The office is also responsible for planning, coordinating and executing the City’s economic development activities and redevelopment initiatives. Some of those duties include working with developers and entrepreneurs to facilitate real estate development in key City redevelopment areas, such as the user-friendly Kissimmee Gateway Airport.
The Economic Development office also works to promote the host of City attributes that provide a marvelous quality of life for residents and businesses alike. Some of those attributes include an impressive eco-friendly park system; an accessible Civic Center in the heart of downtown; as well as the City’s Lakefront Park, which is undergoing a $20 million makeover. When completed the park will offer several new features, such as a “children’s water play area.” Additionally, there will be a wedding lawn, providing the perfect backdrop for breathtaking bridal photos by the lake.

Belinda Ortiz assumed the role of Economic Development Director in December 2009.
Ms. Ortiz welcomes communication with any entrepreneurs interested in moving to our “All- America City” of Kissimmee. She also looks forward to working closely with many of the available local business resources, such as the Osceola County Economic Development Office, Osceola Small Business Development Center and the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission.
Her professional experience includes the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association, Orange County's Business Development Office, as well as having worked for a few Central Florida elected officials.
